BARCELONA’S RECENT SLUMP continued Saturday as Sergio Ramos’ header nine minutes from time handed Real Madrid a 2-1 victory and their second win over the Catalans in five days.
Karim Benzema had given the hosts the perfect start in a rare Saturday afternoon game when he poked home Alvaro Morata’s pinpoint cross after just six minutes.

Barca were level just 12 minutes later when Lionel Messi equalled Alfredo di Stefano’s record for goals scored in Clasicos as he rifled in his 18th strike in clashes between the two bitterest of rivals.
Madrid’s decision to spring Cristiano Ronaldo from the bench seemed to spark the hosts back into life after the break and it was Madrid who eventually found the winner when Ramos rose highest to power home Luka Modric’s corner, making it an almost unprecedented three defeats in four games for the Catalan club.
While Barcelona still hold a 12 point lead at the top of the table, their plight won’t be helped by the possible suspension of goalkeeper Victor Valdes who was sent-off after the final whistle.
